Seafood Special
Are you fond of Seafood? Craigard serves a wide range of fish and shellfish, straight from the local fishing boats and from Campbeltown 'Old Smokehouse'.

Each year, on the first weekend in July, Tarbert hosts a delightful Seafood Festival, with stalls, competitions and shoreside music. Nick Nairn is usually there to demonstrate his expertise, along with other local chefs (including our own). See photo gallery for past delights. However, you can sample our culinary specialities any day! With a varied a la carte menu, a range of constantly changing special dishes – subject to early morning deliveries by local fishermen - and supplemented by glorious local produce, eggs and meat from local farms, cheese and game, Craigard House Hotel's food is something to write home about. We look forward to welcoming you.

Mull of Kintyre Music Festival
The whole of Campbeltown is enthusiastic about the Music Festival, held annually on the fourth weekend in August - 16-19 August 2012. This year's line up is still to be finalised, but in 2011 it includedthe Bootleg Beatles, The Karen Matheson Band, The Fillers, Ali Hutton and Kevin O'Neil and many more See the downloadable progamme here.  In recent years, the headliners have included the The Stranglers, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Ali McBain and Phil Cunningham. The weekend has something for everyone – including a Young Folk Night; Friday Night Festival Concert and Ceilidh; Saturday night Concerts - last year with two headline bands - with Karen Matheson Band heading the list at the Traditional Concert, and the Bootleg Beatles topping the bill at the MOKFest Concert in the Victoria Hall. On the Sunday there are also usually two concerts, The Dalriada Connections Concert and the Survivors Night do! There are also Music Workshops for those who aspire to improve, afternoon concerts of traditional Scottish and Irish Music, Open Mic sessions for all comers, a parade and face painting on the Saturday and much more. Watch Facebook or www.mokfest.com to find details of this year's offerings. We hope to see you...

Mull of Kintyre Run - MoKRun
Runners World published their 2010 Ultimate Race Guide in 2011 and the Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon was number 1 in the UK!

This is an excellent accolade, as for the preceding four years the MOK runs have been voted top races in Scotland by readers of Runners World! MOKRun is usually held annually in May, but the 2012 event is taking place on Sunday 3 June to coincide with the extended Spring Bank Holiday Weekend. This year's event is now full, but for info please visit www.mokrun.com. The 10K race is mainly very flat and is held around Campbeltown Loch, while the half marathon goes farther afield, taking in part of Machrihanish Dunes Golf Course and a kilometre of the sandy Westport Beach – home to the rolling Atlantic surf. In 2006, around 300 people from all over the UK participated, in 2007 the field increased to 500, in 2008 - due to public demand – numbers grew again. In 2009 it was 550, 2010 it was 600, 2011 it was 650 places - and in 2012 all 750 places were fully booked within 6 weeks!! Those runners who have stayed here at Craigard have nothing but compliments for the organisation and stewarding of the race, and the beauty of the course. They also like the porridge here!! But I would counsel you to book your accommodation well in advance, as rooms go like – Usain Bolt!

There are opportunities to run for charity, and other convivial events take place over the weekend, such as a pasta party, a Ceilidh, and a Carnival atmosphere at the finish line, with face painting and all manner of goodies. One runner's favoured memory was the lone piper at the head of the beach!

Air Show
The last Air Show was held in July 2006 and included the RAF Falcons, the Red Bull Matadors, a number of WWII aircraft, an aerobatics team, paintballing and an extreme motorcyclist! Both Campbeltown Brass Band and the Pipe Band participated in the event. This varied show draws enthusiasts from all over Britain and farther afield...see www.mullofkintyreairshow.co.uk
