Seafood Special
Are you fond of Seafood? Head Chef Joanne Baird worked alongside Nick Nairn and other (more local) celebrities at the Festival of Seafood held in Tarbert on the weekend of 7 July 2007 – and she has already been invited back for this year's event. However, you can sample her culinary specialities any day! With a varied a la carte menu, a range of constantly changing special dishes – subject to early morning deliveries by local fishermen - and supplemented by glorious local produce and game, Craigard House Hotel's food is something to write home about. We look forward to welcoming you – and remember to book a table in advance!

Mull of Kintyre Music Festival
The whole of Cambeltown is enthusiastic about the Music Festival in August. Last year, the Stranglers headlined the event – there was not a bed to be had for miles around! Music of all sorts was played in venues all over town – and in the street - from Dougie Maclean to Pipe and Brass bands, and a Concert Ceilidh,  proving that the weekend had something for everyone – including a 'Survivors Night' do. There are also Music Workshops for those who aspire to improve.

The Festival continues to grow in popularity. What was a weekend-only event has now extended to cover the four days from Thursday to Sunday - 21st-24th August 2008.  Although the cast list is still to be announced, you can be assured that there will be the same mix of styles and acts to draw a varied and appreciative crowd.  Keep checking to see news as it is posted.  Don't neglect your accommodation though -  The Craigard House Hotel is the perfect location – quiet enough to miss the crowds – but close enough to the 'biz'.  Book early to avoid disappointment.

Mull of Kintyre Run - MoKRun
The Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon and 10K runs are held annually in May, this year it's Sunday 25th May see www.mokrun.com. The 10K race is mainly very flat and is held around Campbeltown Loch, while the half marathon goes farther afield, taking in a kilometre of the sandy Westport Beach – home to the rolling Atlantic surf. In 2006, around 300 people from all over the UK participated, in 2007 the field increased to 500, and this year - due to public demand, there are 600 people participating. Those runners who have stayed here have nothing but compliments for the organisation and stewarding, and the beauty of the course. They also like the porridge here!!

There are opportunities to run for charity, and other convivial events take place over the weekend, such as a pasta party and a Ceilidh. One runner's favoured memory was the lone piper at the head of the beach!

Air Show
The last Air Show was held in July 2006 and included the RAF Falcons, the Red Bull Matadors, a number of WWII aircraft, an aerobatics team, paintballing and an extreme motorcyclist! Both Campbeltown Brass Band and the Pipe Band participated in the event. This varied show draws enthusiasts from all over Britain and farther afield...see www.mullofkintyreairshow.co.uk
