Seafood Special
Are you fond of Seafood? Craigard serves a wide range of fish and shellfish, straight from the local fishing boats and smokehouse.

Each year, on the first weekend in July, Tarbert hosts a delightful Seafood Festival, with stalls, competitions and shoreside music. Nick Nairn is usually there to demonstrate his  expertise, along with our own Chef and other (more local) celebrities. See photo gallery - however, you can sample our culinary specialities any day! With a varied a la carte menu, a range of constantly changing special dishes – subject to early morning deliveries by local fishermen - and supplemented by glorious local produce, meat, cheese and game, Craigard House Hotel's food is something to write home about. We look forward to welcoming you – and please remember to book a table in advance!

Mull of Kintyre Music Festival
The whole of Cambeltown is enthusiastic about the Music Festival, this year held on 20-23 August 2009.   The headline act this year were the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, also appearing are The Fergie MacDonald Band and The Hot Seats. The weekend has something for everyone – including a 'Survivors Night' do, a Young Folks' Night. There are also Music Workshops for those who aspire to improve, and afternoon concerts of traditional Scottish and Irish Music.

The Festival continues to grow in popularity. What was a weekend-only event has now extended to cover the four days from Thursday to Sunday. See the downloadable progamme here.  The programme has not yet been decided for 2010, but don't neglect your accommodation for next year, as for the last few years accommodation has been fully booked well in advance. The Craigard House Hotel is the perfect location – quiet enough to miss the crowds – but close enough to the 'biz'. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Mull of Kintyre Run - MoKRun
The Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon and 10K runs are held annually in May with next year's event taking place on Sunday 30 May 2010 - the Bank Holiday Weekend. Please visit www.mokrun.com. The 10K race is mainly very flat and is held around Campbeltown Loch, while the half marathon goes farther afield, taking in a kilometre of the sandy Westport Beach – home to the rolling Atlantic surf. In 2006, around 300 people from all over the UK participated, in 2007 the field increased to 500, in 2008 - due to public demand, there were 600 people participating. In 2009 it was 600 again. Those runners who have stayed here have nothing but compliments for the organisation and stewarding, and the beauty of the course. They also like the porridge here!!   But I would counsel you to book your accommodation well in advance, as there is always rush at the last minute!

There are opportunities to run for charity, and other convivial events take place over the weekend, such as a pasta party and a Ceilidh. One runner's favoured memory was the lone piper at the head of the beach!

Air Show
The last Air Show was held in July 2006 and included the RAF Falcons, the Red Bull Matadors, a number of WWII aircraft, an aerobatics team, paintballing and an extreme motorcyclist! Both Campbeltown Brass Band and the Pipe Band participated in the event. This varied show draws enthusiasts from all over Britain and farther afield...see www.mullofkintyreairshow.co.uk
